Regina is "Going Smart"
Regina is "Going Smart"
With the support of friends and families of Regina, we were able to ink a deal with Smart Technologies to outfit every classroom with a new SmartBoard system.  The K-12 SmartBoard installation project should be complete by Summer 2012.

See what teachers say about using SmartBoards in their classrooms.

"I LOVE my SmartBoard! It has become an essential tool in our classroom. We use it for absolutely everything...I rarely ever use my chalkboard anymore. It is a tool we use for every subject. We use it for simple things like writing sentences or working out math problems, but we also play educational games, read online stories and interact with different lessons and activities. It is extremely easy to involve the students in the lesson when the SmartBoard is so user friendly!"
 Again, I love it! =)

"I absolutely love having the SmartBoard!  I was one of the last to receive a SmartBoard in the elementary building, and it was worth the wait.  I no longer have to make overhead copies; I can type something and show it to the class instantly; they can interact with everything I put up; I can look up topics on the internet and show the students immediately when they have a question that I can't answer.

The interactive part of it is amazing. The students have become very involved, and are such fast learners. I feel like I am in the 21st century and not the 19th century with the old chalkboards, and I don't miss the chalk dust. I am extremely grateful to have access to such amazing technology."

"I love using my Smart Board!  I scanned over 180 pages from Science packets, all of the pages in the student reading books, along with overheads, created daily math lessons for every concept and every unit, created and scanned pages to help students prepare for tests, and created many more pages for a variety of subjects.

For the morning math, I created pages with concepts that were difficult to provide extra practice.  The story problems that I created were applicable and interesting to the class because they included people from my family and my pets.

For science, I created hands-on activities to reinforce concepts from each science unit.  It was very easy to incorporate graphs, pictures, etc. into the Smart Board activities.

The children respond well to lessons on the Smart Board.  When preparing for tests, I can show them important terms to highlight in their study guides to help them study for the tests.

They enjoy coming to the Smart Board to solve math problems.  It is nice because I can save pages we have done, bring in a new page without losing the previous page, and then we are able to refer to previous pages if needed.  “The science lessons were fun and educational!” exclaimed the children."
