Art Appreciation

Art Appreciation Combines Art History and Art Theory with Hands-on Art projects. The course will take students from prehistoric cave paintings all the way through to modern art. The class is specifically designed for ninth and tenth grade students, but with instructor approval others may be included.

Art I

Art I is a course in drawing where students use mostly black and white media.  Students will complete projects such as pencil drawn still-life, charcoal, pen & ink drawing, block printing, caricature drawing and more.

Art II

Art II takes students into the world of color.  They'll begin with color pencil and move on to watercolor, acrylic on canvas, fabric batik, stained glass and other projects.

3-D Forms

This course adds a whole new dimension to student projects.  Students will do several clay projects, to include pinch forms, coil and pouch pots. Other projects include wire sculpture, candle making, plaster casting and jewelry making.  Prerequisites for 3-D forms are Art I and II.
